The upper half

There is some controversy of the origin of the string bikini. Some people claim that Brazilian fashion model Rose de Primo is the person who invented the string bikini. During a photo shoot she didn’t have enough fabric so she quick put together a string bikini with what little materials were available to her at the time.
String bikinis are heavily popularized in bikini contests worldwide now. The first time the bikini was publicly available was at the opening of Le Petite centre which is a small retail shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans. The event featured a local fashion designer named Lapin that created a string bikini for the event. It was recorded for local television and newspapers.
